Of these, 780 operating and 845 under construction or proposed. Operating generation capacity totals 412 GW across 780 utility-scale plants of 100 MW and above. The largest is Jaitapur nuclear power plant (10.4 GW).

The largest owner-operators are NTPC Ltd (84), NHPC Ltd (43) and ReNew Power (42) — NTPC Ltd alone is named on 5% of them. Half of India's power plants in service predate 2015 (median commissioning year of the 737 with a known date), 361 came online in the past decade and the oldest still listed is Bhira hydroelectric plant, dating from 1927. 845 are in the pipeline, led by Jaitapur nuclear power plant (10.4 GW), under construction.
