China has 168 LNG terminals mapped on the OverWatts open energy atlas — the 2nd-largest fleet of the 102 countries that hold any, and 13% of the world's mapped total. Of these, 71 operating and 47 under construction or proposed. Combined LNG capacity is about 562 Mtpa. The largest is Longkou Nanshan LNG Terminal (14 Mtpa).

The largest owner-operators are PetroChina (6), CNOOC (5) and Guanghui Energy Integrated Logistics Development Co Ltd (5) — PetroChina alone is named on 4% of them. Half of China's LNG terminals in service predate 2019 (median commissioning year of the 56 with a known date), 42 came online in the past decade and the oldest still listed is Guangdong Dapeng LNG Terminal, dating from 2006. 47 are in the pipeline, led by Longkou Nanshan LNG Terminal (14 Mtpa), proposed.
